Raavan Movie Review and a comparison with ‘Ramayana’

Movie Review: Raavan
Lots of film coming based on the stories of Indian epics. Two weeks after ‘Rajneeti’ was released, which was based on the epic, ‘Mahabharata’, here comes ‘Raavan’, a film based on the epic, ‘Ramayan’.
‘Raavan’ would be release in two languages, the tamil version would be called ‘Raavanan’. In the Hindi version, it will be starring Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role of Raavan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as a dance teacher and the wife of a cop. The cop is played by the South Indian superstar, Vikram.
Ravana
Ravana The film is based on the tale of ‘Ramayan’ where Sita, the wife of Ram, a reincarnation of Vishnu, gets abducted by the villain, Raavan.
Well, what would be noticeable in the film is how close the characters of the film have been depicted in the film. The characters in the epic were all perfect figures, but in today’s world, perfectness is very difficult to be maintained.
Speaking on the perfectness, the famous writer, Gurcharan Das said, “The hero is perfect, the brother is perfect, the wife of the hero is perfect, even the villain is perfect.”
Making a direct comparison between Ramayana and Mahabharata, the writer says that in today’s world, it is much logical to make films based on Mahabharata as it does not have perfect figures.
He says that it’s very difficult to make the characters perfect in today’s films. The epic also has gambling, polyandry, feuds in the families, battles, and all the spice to show something on the silver screen.
Whereas, ‘Ramayana’ is more about depicting perfectness; the things which are very unrealistic. The writer says that nothing in the world is perfect; even the Gods are imperfect.
The writer says, “The Mahabharat is very clear that human beings are imperfect and everybody is imperfect — even gods are imperfect — and that’s really the world as we know it. In comparison the Ramayan is boring.
The ‘Mahabharat’ is full of blood and guts. It’s a dark tale in which there’s a war and everybody dies.”
When asked from the production team, whether the film resembled somewhere to the Maoist, a spokeswoman for Reliance Big Pictures said that it has nothing to do with Indian Maoist.
The film releasing today. Lets see how it performs on the box-office.
