Teja to direct Venkatesh?

Cinemotagrapher turned director-cum-producer shot into lime light with “Chitram” and came out with a string of hits. But in recent times, he is going through a lean phase with his every film sinking at the box office without a trace.
According to Film Nagar sources, Teja has decided to mend his casual ways and become a serious film maker once again. It is understood that he created a credible script and shown that to producer D Suresh Babu who is said to have liked what he read.
Now, the buzz is that Suresh Productions will make the film to be directed by Teja and Venkatesh would be the hero.

Vikram sure to win National Award for Raavan

Movie Raavanan, which has Tamil actor Vikram in the lead role, is directed by Manirathnam and scheduled to be released simultaneously in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu languages on the 18th of this month. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Priyamani are also in the cast, which is an exception too.

Vikram, while speaking about acting in the film said, “I am really lucky to act in a Manirathnam’s film. This film has been produced in Tamil and Hindi languages. It was a great challenge for me to act in two different kinds of roles one for each version. Manirathnam, who had great confidence in my acting, made me act in both these roles.”

“People those who watched this film during the screening in the Cannes Film Festival were stunned seeing me do two different kinds of roles. No actor has so far done it. This was a real thrill for me. I am donning a tough village guy in the Tamil version while in Hindi I am donning the role of a police officer. Manirathnam has made me dub in Hindi. I don’t know Hindi. Because of this I found it very difficult. I think I will get the National Award once aging for acting in Raavanan though I don’t act for awards.

I will always act with the intention of satisfying my fans and audience. I will be happy if I get the awards. But Manirathnam will grab lot of awards for this film. Technicians will also get the awards. Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai have acted magnificently too. I am getting a lot of offers in Hindi even before the release of Raavan. I will act in Hindi films only if I get a good story but my priority will be Tamil films.”

Venkatesh ‘Nagavalli’ Shoot in Hyderabad

  

Venkatesh ‘Nagavalli’ or call it as Chandramukhi -2 will now shoot in Hyderabad from June 14 as a part of its second schedule. But not before suffering from excruciating pain and horrible experience at Korukonda in Vijayanagaram district.

‘Nagavalli’ set was destroyed by ‘Laila’ cyclone, coupled with several production challenges faced by ‘Nagavalli’ unit. Director P Vasu looks to be a determined chap as he looking forward to meet every situation. And the second schedule has been planned at Hyderabad from June 14th at Ramanaidu Studios.

Venkatesh ‘Nagavalli’ movie is expected to be visual feast as the film has several computer graphics and special effects. The film ‘Nagavalli’ has a long list of heroines - Anushka, Richa Gangopadhyay, Kamilini Mukherjee, etc. ‘Chandramukhi 2’, the ‘Aptha Rakshaka’ in Kannada was a blockbuster that is still running in a record number of theatres, in spite of more than 100 days of showing.

Vedam Grosses Rs 10.5 Crores in its First Week

Arka Mediaworks’ first venture Krish Jagarlamudi’s VEDAM starring Allu Arjun, Manchu Manoj, Anushka & others opened to a smashing first week collection of Rs 10.5 crores in India alone.

The movie released on the 4th June with 225 prints across 350 screens to a positive talk. The movie is both a critical & commercial success. With movie grossed $200,000 in the US within the first five days itself, making it the highest grossing Telugu film in the US in 2010. The music scored by M.M Keeravani is one of the highlights of the film. So is Gnanashekar’s cinematography.

Trade pundits expected the movie would only work in the urban areas, but the movie surprised them by doing exceeding well in the rural areas too.

The producers Devineni Prasad, Shobu Yarlagadda & rest of the Arka Mediaworks unit thank the Telugu movie going population worldwide for embracing this brave attempt.

Surya Rakta Charitra Stills

Rakta Charitra is a forthcoming trilingual Indian film written and directed by Ram Gopal Varma, made simultaneously in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil languages. As the entire film is said to last for about 5 hours, the film will be divided into two parts, which will be releasing within three months gap. Raktha Charitra shooting is going to start in next week at Mumbai then it will continue again in Hyderabad.

Rakta Charitra is said to depict the life of the slain political leader Paritala Ravindra, played by Vivek Oberoi, with Surya , enacting the role of Maddelacheruvu Suri, Shatrughan Sinha, playing N. T. Rama Rao, Radhika Apte and Priyamani in other pivotal roles.

Movie Review: Vedam

'Vedam' tests your patience to the breaking point, maybe beyond. This is a Crash/Babel-like roundelay of desperately manufactured bathos that covers the entire spectrum of miserable plotting and characterization.
Director Radha Krishna aka Krish means well, but having your heart in the right place is no excuse for insipid ineptitude. 'Vedam' is a bland, pointless movie that happens to have a brilliantly emotional ending; as a reminder of the 26/11 tragedy wrapped up in a pop movie so as to appeal to a later generation, I pat Krish on the back. But, as disaster vessels go, this one's sunk.
Krish doesn't seem to have anything to offer beyond an unquestioning admiration of Alejandro González Iñárritu and the screenwriting homework he obviously did about the trappings of interconnecting storylines. 'Vedam' shows how some people's problems become small and insignificant in the face of momentous events. But in doing so, the movie reveals itself to be small and insignificant too. Featuring almost a dozen central characters in a movie leaves little time to explore their subplots, and since they're played by A-list celebrities, we see the stars and not the characters. As was the case with this weekend's other release 'Raajneeti', what little magic 'Vedam' has is overshadowed by the star spotting. And as a result 'Vedam' is an earnest film that shows an advance in Telugu filmmakers' technique, but one that, given its setting, seems curiously shallow, even trivial.
'Vedam' has five storylines but it becomes near impossible to give a flip about any particular one. Wannabe Rock Star Chakravarthy (Manoj Manchu) faces the ire of his mother who wants him to join the Armed Forces. Cable operator Cable Raju (Allu Arjun) is a penniless slumdog and desperately in love with the rich Deeksha Seth. Saroja (Anushka) is a small time prostitute with dreams of running her own brothel in the big city. Raheemulla Khureshi (Manoj Bajpai) faces racism in Hyderabad and plans to flee to Dubai and find peace with other Muslims. Ramulu (Nagayya) is a weaver burdened by debt, and is anxiously in need of money. As Chakravarthy arranges to go on a concert tour, Saroja escapes with her pimp's cash, Cable Raju hunts for quick dough to impress his girl, Khureshi battles his inner demons and Ramulu finds a way to repay his debts. Many events are revealed out of sequence, but needless to say, all of the characters collide at some point.
Director Krish has made a vague gesture at a large, metaphoric structure without having the dramatic means to achieve it. His previous film 'Gamyam' emerged to be path breaking, but 'Vedam' falls short on that front as it is teeth-grinding derivative. The performances range from excellent to intolerable - Manoj Bajpayi is outstanding as the harassed Muslim, Anushka has a great screen presence that is complimented by her solid dialogue delivery, Nagayya's gait is believable, Manoj Manchu is passable, Allu Arjun veers from peppy fresh at his best to cringe-worthy at his worst. Lekha Washingon and Deeksha Seth are good to look at but are migraine-inducing when they mumble their few lines. Ravi Prakash is suitably antagonistic and Brahmanandam makes a decent cameo. Technically 'Vedam' is first rate as Keeravani's music gels well with Gnanasekhar striking cinematography and Rajeev Nair's rich art direction. Ram–Lakshman's action, though a tad OTT is elevated by Sravan's crisp editing.
Final verdict? 'Vedam' seems to have a lot of volume, but not really a lot to say. It's an ambitious film drenched in sincerity but Krish's attempt to shoehorn what he sees as grand themes into a choppy and unsubtle script is slightly embarrassing.

Pawan Kalyan & Venkatesh together for a film!

 

Tollywood always see few number of multi-starrer films compared to other industries. If reports are to be believed, tollywood will witness two top stars in a Telugu film. Victory Venkatesh and Power star Pawan Kalyan will soon be seen sharing the screen space. Venkatesh was earlier seen in a multi-starrer film titled ‘Eenadu’ with Kamal Haasan. However, the film did not meet the success as expected.

The film will be produced by Dil Raju and will be directed by Srikanth Addala of ‘Kotta Bangarulokam’ fame. Currently, the script work is being prepared by the director. The movie is said to be a big budget multi-starrer film of tollywood.

Varun Sandesh Happy Happyga

Varun Sandesh who made his debut through Happy Days acting in another film that has Happy in it’s title. Varun Sandesh’s latest film is titled as Happy Happyga. This film is being produced by Vadlamudi Durga Prasad on Ocean Films banner. Priya Saran who worked with Vishnu Vardhan (Billa fame) and M Raja in the past makes his debut as director. Mani Sharma composes music. Anil Ravipudi pens dialogues. Happy Happyga will release in the month of June.

Vedam characters brief

Krish’s Vedam – the first multistarrer of moden Telugu cinema – has Allu Arjun, Manoj Manchu and Anushka doing three of the five important characters in this movie. Allu Arjun does the role of Cable Raju who is a cable operating boy from lower income class. Manoj Manchu plays the role of Vivek Chakravarthy – a budding rock star. Anushka plays the role of a prostitute called Saroja. Manoj Bajpai and another old man do the other two important characters in the movie. Re-recording of the movie is just started by Keeravani. Vedam is gearing up for 20 May release.

Seven songs in Vedam

Krish’s second movie Vedam will have seven songs scored by MM Keeravani. Allu Arjun, Manoj Manchu and Anushka play main leads. Apart from Anushka, there will be three more heroines (Seeya Gowtam, Diksha Seth and Lekha Washington). Manoj Bajpai play a vital role. Prasad Devineni and Shobu Yarlagadda produce this movie on Arka Mediaworks banner.
